What if a Rock Star Trashes the Hotel Ivy's New $5,000-Per-Night Penthouse?

Downtown Minneapolis’s Hotel Ivy just completed a $580,000 renovation of its penthouse suite, which, in our humble opinion, wasn’t too shabby to begin with. The 2,500-square-foot, two-story, $5,000-a-night suite, designed by Martha Dayton, is replete with amenities like a Dom Pérignon bar. This got us thinking, what if suite guests (already booked up through much of the next year) revel a little too hard? We asked Hotel Ivy GM Andrew Finsness about it. "It could happen, but you know, say it’s a band or something and they did that, then they’ve got the money, and their tour agent says, yeah, we’ll pay it. Because they have a reputation, too." As for whether it’s actually something that does happen, Finsness says, "Not since I’ve been here. More often than not the bands are good. There’s actually many times they’ll ask you to remove the minibars and get all the liquor out because they stopped drinking."
